Altered Scenes, Adams State College

Alamosa, Colorado

Winner for the Colorado Council on the Arts, Art in Public Places Program, Altered Scenes is located adjacent to the art and theater departments, at the entrance to Adams State College.  The artworks communicate techniques used in the fine arts and theater arts: texture, color, form, line, space, and illusion.  The three glass structures vacillate between two-dimensional opaque surfaces and transparent windows.  At night the structures are illuminated by a soft blue light.  The structure for the theater department uses dichroic glass, natural and artificial lighting to transform the theater wall into the illusion of a stage.
